Logistics Manager

Key accountabilities:

  • Design, develop and manage the logistics processes and solutions using a team approach supported by performance plans and objectives.
  • Lead efforts to standardize processes and implement best practices for warehouse and transportation management.
  • Attain an efficient layout & space management by using 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional space planning, taking into account the following warehouse functions:
    • Receiving and put away or cross-dock
    • Picking
    • Replenishment
    • Packing and dispatch
    • Returns
  • Analyse and improve storage methods and equipment.
  • Analyse and improve materials handling methods and equipment.

Warehouse operations, procedures and processes:

  • Efficient organizing and controlling of Warehouse’s overall operations.
  • Ensure workplace health and safety requirements are met.
  • Maintain Housekeeping of warehouse.
  • Ensure excellent performance and service to either our retail outlets or by way of direct delivery to our customers.
  • Organize all activities & assign jobs accordingly for employees.
  • Manage stock control: the receipt, storage, retrieval and timely delivery of goods, document recording and data entry into system.
  • Constantly plan out all warehouse resources and activities in relation to company objectives and set targets.
  • Meet with other department heads about sales, purchasing, and record control to ensure smooth coordination and running of warehouse activities.
  • Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene and security in the work environment.
  • Oversee the planned maintenance of vehicles, machinery and equipment.
  • Coordinate and communicate with customers on home delivery and assemble.

E-Commerce Order Fulfilment:

  • Manage and oversee eCommerce fulfilment (Brand site and Marketplaces) performance at high satisfactory level.
  • Set up fulfilment KPIs for courier partner ensuring targets are achieved.
  • Have periodic review and sharing with Brand site courier partner and Marketplaces fulfilment team on performance.
  • Align future improvement plan and forecasted orders.
  • Constantly look at the current process of online fulfilment, working with relevant department (Customer Service Refund team, Audit and Process Team, IT etc) and Marketplaces to review and enhance to adapt into the ever changing online/ecommerce landscape.

E-Commerce Order Fulfilment:

  • Recruit, interview and select managerial team members who have the right technical and personal abilities to help further the organization’s mission.
  • Ensure all employees receive an orientation to the organization and appropriate training.
  • Research training availability and needs and make recommendations to senior management and HR
  • Discipline employees when necessary using appropriate techniques; release employees when necessary using appropriate and legally defensible procedures.
  • Follow up and control daily absence and over time.

Performance Management:

  • Implement a performance management for all employees which includes monitoring the performance of employees on an on-going basis and conducting an annual performance review.
  • Pro-actively manage identified talent within Warehouse and act as an enabler to career progression opportunities.
  • Recognise and reward high performance using Company’s recognition and reward policies.

Problem Solving:

  • Inventory control and loss prevention.
  • Customer Service.
  • People Management through recruitment, learning and development and performance management.
  • Warehouse Operational Planning – Efficacy of operational work-flow processes.
  • Warehouse cost management through knowledge of cost and cost drivers, calculating costs and rates and activity-based costing.

  • Knowledge in Equipment Maintenance.
  • Ability to operate powered material handling equipment
  • Computer literacy.
  • Knowledge of inventory control and Workplace Safety Regulations.
  • In-Depth Knowledge of logistics coupled with and extensive understanding of business strategies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in any field with:
    • Minimum of eight years’ experience in a logistics environment
    • Minimum five years’ management experience
    • Experience in dealing with ecommerce fulfilment
  • Or Diploma in any field with:
    • Minimum of twelve years’ experience in a logistics environment
    • Minimum six years’ management experience
    • Experience in dealing with ecommerce fulfilment
