Technical Publications Manager

Key accountabilities:

  • Report to and work closely with your line manager so that there is a complete understanding of project timelines and the progress of project documentation;
  • Manage a multi-cultural team of technical writers who produce highly technical User Manuals, Installation Manuals, Online and Embedded help files and Technical Support documentation;
  • Conduct quarterly and yearly performance reviews and set yearly objectives in line with company objectives and values;
  • Work closely with the PMO managers and Core teams to maintain on-time delivery of documentation through the gate process;
  • Possible need to attend weekly product Core meetings;
  • Adapting communications for difference audiences;
  • Maintain document-control and document-management requirements;
  • Work with product managers, project managers and development teams;
  • Make sure that documentation is developed in line with company objectives;
  • Proficient in Structured, Unstructured based and Topic based authoring techniques;
  • Some proofreading and editing of other technical authors work will be necessary;
  • Team leadership through complex projects;
  • Ability to mentor team members

Essential Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline
  • Background in broadcasting
  • Prior experience documenting hardware and software products is required
  • Prior experience in managing mid to large size teams of technical writers
  • Prior experience in producing video training content
  • Proven record of leading teams through complex project.
  • Experience with single source documentation creation tools such as RoboHelp
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of publications software, including: Framemaker (must have), Word, Visio, Adobe Acrobat and various graphics packages
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of writing in Markdown language editors and HTML/PDF output
  • Working knowledge of JIRA and Confluence
  • Working knowledge of CSS, HTML, DITA and XML
