Manager, Accounting & Taxation

Relationship:

The Manager, Accounting & Taxation is responsible to supervise and manage the functions of Management Reporting and Statutory Reporting (Compliance), General Ledger transactional and accounts coding as well as day to day operations and administrative functions of Accounting & Taxation. In addition, he/she is expected to provide excellent customer service to both internal stakeholders and external parties

 

Key accountabilities:

  • AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Management Reporting (Monthly Financial Reports) and Statutory Reporting
    • Responsible for financial reporting and analysis
    • Responsible for timely and accurate monthly and yearly accounts closing
    • Responsible for cash flow analysis
  • Including but not limited to the following:
    • Review revenue and expenses account code, analysis of Balance Sheet items, Inter‐company reconciliation and related party transactions report
    • Prepare the Variance Analysis Report and other reports
    • Review Fixed Assets register
    • Review and approve Bank Reconciliation Statement
    • Prepare financial reports for management meetings (Council Meeting, etc.)
    • Perform financial analysis and compile financial data and reports for management and external parties for various purpose (such as Statistics Department)
    • Ensure compliance to accounting standards, regulations, direct and indirect taxes, and the relevant laws; tax matters such as withholding tax, SST, etc
  • External Audit
    • Responsible for the finalization of audit, with minimum audit adjustments, meeting deadline set and comply with accounting regulations (e.g. MPERS)
    • Respond to auditor’s queries promptly
    • Prepare draft audited accounts
    • Review and ensure accuracy of the final audited financial statement
    • Internal Audit
    • Responsible to ensure accuracy of financial data and reports provided to internal auditor
    • Responsible to liaise with internal auditor
  • Taxation
    • Responsible for corporate tax analysis and computation
    • Respond promptly to tax agent’s queries
    • Prepare Transfer Pricing documentation
  • Process and System
    • Manage projects, systems, process related to reporting, integration to the source system
    • Driving process improvement, standardization, and ensure successful execution for accounting processes and internal controls
    • Participate in Financial reporting projects initiated by Group Finance, including enhancement to financial/accounting systems
    • Analyze internal processes, recommend and implement procedural or policy changes to improve financial reporting/operations
    • Supervision of personnel which includes work allocation and problem solving
  • People
    • Responsible to build strong working relationship and teamwork spirit with other departments as well as other sections within Finance Department, and ensure the flow of information in both directions accurately
    • Participate in meetings and attend to the issues being raised and provide solutions within the agreed timeline with the related parties
    • Develop and formalize internal escalation process within the team for issues faced by team memberotivate staff to achieve peak productivity, performance and targets

Essential Skills:

  • Possess a Degree in Accounting or equivalent, or a Professional Certificate like ACCA, CIMA, CPA
  • Minimum 8 years relevant working experience in related field, with at least 3 years experience in managerial role
  • Strong accounting knowledge
  • Computer literate especially in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and preferably AccPac and IBM Cognos TM1
  • Knowledge of and skills in using computer software applications to analyze, develop and report on the financial status of the company
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures relating to assigned job would be an advantage
  • Ability to analyze data and identify problems
