Executive/Assistant, Chartering

Key accountabilities:

  • Perform and support the Manager/Director in all aspects of vessel activities to ensure profitable employment of managed / operated vessels, time charter-in tonnage
  • Timely monitoring of their positioning, movement and cargo loading / discharging processes
  • Negotiate on demurrage rates and lay time as per contract terms.
  • Compute and follow up on payment of demurrage claims
  • Support team in promoting business activities and management of client relationship to resolve all potential problems and issues
  • Calculate voyage estimates and assist with budgeting and preparation of commercial tenders
  • Assist to monitor market conditions and industry rates
  • Chartering of tugs / barges / offshore tonnage and other vessels for both owned and principal’s tonnage
  • Work with Agency and Operation department on all aspects of joint projects
  • Plan and organize resources for all turnkey projects
  • Prepare relevant documents and contracts upon securing job and liaise in negotiation of contracts
  • Assist in organizing operational issues as required
  • Implement marketing and chartering strategies
  • Evaluate shipbroker services, coverings and policy for charter-in sales and purchases
  • Assist to prepare accurate and timely reports to the management
  • Follow up with all port agents and submit proper accounts for all vessels regularly
  • Ensure conformity of processes and documentation with Company and industry standards
  • Undertake ad-hoc projects and tasks as and when required by the Management

Essential Skills:

  • Able to commit 6-12 months
  • Min Diploma / Degree in Maritime studies / Marine Engineering / Commerce / Economics
  • Possess good knowledge and understanding of chartering principles and practices, charter parties and market information
  • Possess strong client relationship management, presentation, communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to multi-task, work in fast faced environment and a highly resourceful and proactive individual
  • Possess good organizational and planning skills
  • Responsible and meticulous with positive attitude
  • Proficient in use of MS office software’s and planning tools e.g. MS Project will be an added advantage
